Perez: Ricciardo will cope at Red Bull

Sergio Perez has warned Daniel Ricciardo that he will be under a lot more pressure at Red Bull next year, but he is confident the Australian will cope.

The Mexican found himself in a similar position at the start of this season after he swapped his Sauber seat for a place at McLaren and he initially found it tough going. However, he is starting to adapt and is showing why the Woking squad have invested in him.

Ricciardo, meanwhile, will leave Toro Rosso at the end of this year to partner up with three-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel at Red Bull.

"I think it is important that he comes with the right attitude for his team," Perez is quoted as saying by Autosport. "I know Daniel very well, he is a good friend of mine, and I think he has the right attitude to cope with it.

"I think he will do very well and I expect him to be fighting straight away.

"It will take him a couple of races but, if Red Bull has a good consistent car, he will be with Sebastian straight away. It will be very good for him."

The pressure will no doubt go up a notch as soon as Ricciardo sets foot at Milton Keynes and Perez warns that his future could be decided by how he adapts to the heat.

He added: "The pressure raises a lot, and there is a lot of pressure in a team like McLaren and Red Bull.

"For sure there is more pressure than he has at the moment at Toro Rosso, or what I had at Sauber.

"But I think as a racing driver you have to focus and deliver to 100 per cent. That is the way to handle it.

"If you cannot handle pressure when you come into a big team you will not succeed and you will last only a couple of years before someone else comes.

"So I think it is important to prepare yourself and do nothing apart from give your best."
