McLaren pushing 'to the limit'

McLaren are confident they will be ready for Jerez despite their 2014 car having not yet passed all the mandatory crash tests.

With pre-season testing set to get underway in less than two weeks, reports have emerged claiming McLaren's new MP4-29 may not be ready in time.

Not only has the car not passed all the FIA crash tests but, according to Autosport, there is 'speculation that it may even have failed one or more tests, putting it behind schedule.'

McLaren, though, are confident the new car will be action on 28 January, the first day of pre-season testing.

"At this time of the year it's normal for all teams to be pushing everything to the limit in an effort to extract the most performance, and crash tests are no different," a team spokesman told Autosport.

"McLaren will pass all the tests prior to track running."
