Romain Grosjean says he was frustrated with his day's work in Spain as "quite a few" small niggles hampered his running.
Although Grosjean completed over 40 laps in the two practices combined, the Lotus driver was unable to make any inroads towards the top ten.
Finishing 17th in both practice sessions, Grosjean was two and three seconds off the pace respectively.
But despite being mampered by downforce issues and later a brake problem, the Frenchman reckons once the issues are resolved he could be on course for a good weekend.
"Today was frustrating as we had quite a few small problems which made it difficult for me to get clean runs and set a good time.
"This also made it difficult to get the set-up of the car where we want it to be.
"The positive is that we can see there's pace in the car from Pastor's laps.
"If we can get everything sorted and my car running like it should we could have a good result in qualifying tomorrow."
