No changes to Friday practices

Friday 20-June-2014 06:59

A proposal to shorten Friday practices to just one session next season have been dropped while there could be changes to the testing regulations.

Last time out in Canada, there was talk of Formula 1 shortening Fridays from two practice session to just one that would be held late in the day.

The plan was aimed at reducing costs as it meant the teams could arrive later, saving them a lot of money in hotel bills and such.

That plan, though, was shot down during a meeting of the F1 Commission.

As for testing, the Commission agreed to again ban testing outside of Europe, meaning there will be no pre-season testing in Bahrain, while instead of four in-season tests, next season there will be just two.

The changes to the testing regulations still need to be ratified by the WMSC.
