McLaren have 'no worries' over finances

Wednesday 09-July-2014 15:47

McLaren have assured their fans that there are no concerns over their financial future with the team set to have its biggest budget in 2015.

After a disastrous 2013 during which they failed to claim a single podium and also lost their title sponsor, the Woking squad vowed to pump even more cash into F1 with managing director Jonathan Neale revealing they will have their biggest ever budget for 2014.

The team, though, have so far failed to catch up to the likes of Mercedes this season while a new title sponsor is still yet to be revealed.

However, racing director Eric Boullier insists they will dig even deeper into their pockets for next season.

"We are not in a position where we are struggling to get money, we are perfectly fine, and with Honda coming on board, even more so," he told Press Assocation Sport.

"For this year we've had our biggest ever budget and next year that is going to increase, so there are no worries."

Although all teams are determined to cut costs, Boullier insists a bigger budget won't put them in trouble with authorities.

"Cost cutting and budgets are different," he added.

"If we want a £500million budget but spend only £100million then that is our problem, so they are different topics."
