Button 'overreacted' in Hamilton criticism

In hindsight, Jenson Button concedes he "overreacted" in his criticism of Lewis Hamilton after their scrap in the German GP.

Hamilton, who was making his way through the field having started P20, clashed with Button as he tried to pass him at the hairpin.

The Mercedes driver acknowledged his mistake but an unhappy Button still hit out.

"I think the problem with Lewis is he expected me to let him past," said the 34-year-old.

"I don't think I'm the only person he drove into today. It's strange, when the car's so much quicker you'd think he wouldn't get into so [many] fights but there you go.

"He drove into my rear wheel, that's all I've got to say and I don't know much else about it."

However, hours later having reviewed the footage of the incident, Button has changed his tune.

"Interesting GP today, loved the tussles out on track," the McLaren driver tweeted.

"After watching the race back think I overreacted with my feelings about Lewis's move. I can understand why he thought I was giving him room.

"Amazed we both got around the corner!! F1 put on a great show today and long may it continue!"
