Raikkonen: I fully believe in Ferrari

Kimi Raikkonen insists he's not ready to throw in the towel at Ferrari despite a poor season.

The Finn returned to the Scuderia at the start of the year, but it has been anything but a happy homecoming as he has found himself well off team-mate Fernando Alonso's pace. The Spaniard leads him 11-0 in qualifying while he also has the upper hand on race.

The 2007 World Champion's mood is unlikely to have improved following Saturday's qualifying in Hungary after he was knocked out in Q1 after a poor call from the team.

The Finn says he asked the team several times if he was safe and was told "he was fine" to make it through to Q2, but those on the pitwall was wrong as he was knocked out by Jules Bianchi of Marussia.

Raikkonen, who has admitted he is likely to quit F1 once his current contract with the Italian team runs out at the end of 2015, insists the latest disaster won't affect his future with the team.

"It will not influence my decision," he told Press Association Sport. "I've a contract, I fully believe in Ferrari, I've enjoyed a lot of wins and success with them.

"It's been a difficult year, which is life. It's not fun when you have hard times, it's happened before and that's how it goes.

"We try to improve things, try to make things better all the time, make less mistakes, get the car where I want it to be to be fast again. I've not suddenly over the winter lost a few seconds lap time, so it's the case of putting things in the right places for me.

"Unfortunately we haven't managed to do it now and then, we are still fighting against things a lot, and the results show. If it were easier, as sometimes it goes, then we would be laughing, but that was not the case today, and has not been the case this year.

"As I say, I trust in the team, but there have to be changes and improvements, which can only happen if we work as a team, as a group, as Ferrari."
