Fernando Alonso has taken to social media to deny speculation about his future.

There has been a great deal of speculation about Alonso's future in recent months given Ferrari's woefully showing in the first half of this season.

With little sign of a recovery on the cards, the double World Champion has been linked to a move to McLaren.

However, more recently, reports claims he is demanding $50 million a year to stay on with Ferrari.

Alonso, though, has taken to Twitter to deny the widely spreading rumours.

"A thing that's not true, even if is copied a thousand times, will remain false," he tweeted.

He added: "Always helpful to remember this..."
