Raikkonen pleased with package gains

Kimi Raikkonen has praised the progress that Ferrari have made in recent months, saying they are "getting stronger".

The Italian squad were well off the pace of Mercedes, Red Bull and Williams during the opening few races of the 2014 campaign, but they have managed to edge closer in the last few races.

Fernando Alonso claimed a podium in Hungary before the summer break and then Raikkonen followed it up with a P4, the Finn's best result of the season, at the Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday.

Although he concedes they are still lacking in terms of downforce, the 2007 World Champion is happy with the direction in which they are heading.

"Little by little we're getting stronger, on every side," Raikkonen is quoted as saying by Autosport. "It's not just the engine and the electronics.

"For sure we don't have the downforce that some of the other teams have. It's the package.

"We're not bad in any of the areas, but we're not good either. We're missing everywhere: the car itself, aerodynamic grip, mechanical grip, and the power as well.

"Some circuits are better for us than others, [but] we keep working and improving things little by little."
