Red Bull improvement pleases Vettel

Sebastian Vettel believes Red Bull took another step forward at Monza as he felt "happier than previously" after Friday practice.

The defending World Champion was sixth fastest in FP1 and seventh fastest in the afternoon, but there is no doubt that Red Bull have improved their race pace with Vettel not too far behind Mercedes and Williams on the longer runs.

The German, who posted a best time of 1:26.762 in FP2 which was 0.537s slower than that of pacesetter Nico Rosberg, feels things are falling into place for the team.

"Today was a good day in terms of laps that we could do and stuff that we could test," he said. "It's always important to get the Friday right to build onto for the rest of the weekend. I felt a bit happier than previously.

"It was very slippery, obviously these cars are very low on grip. It's normal, plus the fact you have minimum downforce in Monza which usually makes things quite interesting. It was quite a good day for us, we didn't have any big problems, but there are issues with the car so we could do a little better."
