Rosberg laments that missing tenth

Saturday 21-September-2013 16:14

Having qualified on the front row of the grid, Nico Rosberg is hoping Mercedes' race pace can see challenge for the victory in Singapore.

After Friday's practice many doubted whether anyone could take the fight to Sebastian Vettel in qualifying but having improved overnight that's exactly what Rosberg did.

While Vettel with his 1:42.841 sat in the pits during the final minutes of qualifying, Rosberg and his rivals were out on track for a last-gasp effort.

And Rosberg came dangerously close.

The German clocked a 1:42.932 to miss out on pole position by a mere 0.091s.

"It's unfortunate," said the Mercedes driver.

"Sebastian has been really quick the whole weekend.

"It was very close and it was a pity because one tenth more it would have been possible but second is still a good result as gives us a good position to start the race tomorrow.

"We are confident about our race pace so I think a great result is possible."
