Mercedes Executive Director Toto Wolff admitted that the Brackley team wants to win both the Constructors' and Drivers' Championships.
Speaking to German publication Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the Austrian said that Mercedes' target is being "at the front of every race looking to win".
"Titles are a requirement for Mercedes, that's why we're in Formula One. If it was different for us, we should stop immediately," he told Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
Amidst the struggles defending four-time champions Red Bull Racing and Sebastian Vettel have endured during pre-season, Mercedes-powered teams have consistently topped the time sheets during winter testing.
At last week's final test in Bahrain, Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton finished only two hundreds of a second slower than Felipe Massa in a Merc-powered Williams.
Wolff added that Mercedes are hoping to build on the testing momentum at the season opener in Australia later this month.
"We want to continue exactly where we left off: winning races, being on the podium regularly and then you could end up with a World Championship," Wolff said.
