Alonso wants Vettel at Turn 1

Determined to take points off Sebastian Vettel this Sunday, Fernando Alonso reckons he'll have his first opportunity to get ahead of the German at Turn 1.

Although Vettel is starting the Hungarian Grand Prix second on the grid and Alonso fifth, a long run to the first corner should give the fast-starting Spaniard the chance to make up ground.

And, if he has his way, the opportunity to even pull ahead of Vettel.

"I have the chance," said Alonso, who trails the Red Bull racer by 34 points in the Drivers' Championship.

"If we started eighth or ninth and he was on pole then there's no way we can arrive to him with the start and the different strategies we can do around the pit stop times etc.

"But he starts second and we start fifth, so the first opportunity will be at the first corner..."

As for his fifth place on the grid, it is Alonso's best qualifying position since May's Spanish GP, which he also started fifth - and which he won.

The double World Champ, though, says his Budapest P5 is also a "little miracle" given that Ferrari and the Hungaroring don't often go well together.

"I think it was a little miracle being fifth. It is a track that has not historically been too good for Ferrari.

"With the slow corners and the traction you need here, to be a little bit closer to the pole position is good news; especially after being tenth at Silverstone and eighth at the Nurburgring, coming back to the top five is good news

"The laps were good, the preparation was good and the team was doing a good job setting up the car for the characteristics of this circuit."
