Andretti: Alonso and Kimi is a concern

Former World Champ Mario Andretti has warned Ferrari there could be a down side to signing Kimi Raikkonen and having two number one drivers in the team.

According to reports, Ferrari are set to announce later this week that their 2007 World Champion Raikkonen will return next season, replacing the beleaguered Felipe Massa.

That means the Finn will team up with Fernando Alonso despite Luca di Montezemolo previously stating that he doesn't want "two roosters in the same henhouse."

One person who fears di Montezemolo going back on that sentiment could cause more havoc than good is 1978 World Champion Andretti.

"We haven't seen two number one [drivers] for a long time there," he told

"Historically, I don't know how that could work. I'm not sure that Fernando would welcome that.

"It will be really interesting to see what direction they take. There are certainly available talents to go there."

The 1978 World Champ believes Raikkonen should seriously consider spending another season with Lotus.

"Kimi's having the opportunity to assess a lot of things. He's a desirable commodity at this moment and he really seems to be fired up.

"But I think he's looking good at Lotus; it's great for the team to have him there. I also think he elevated [Romain] Grosjean's game. They're both capable of bringing in results.

"But this is what makes it all exciting. A lot of things are about to happen."
