Horner 'never' dreamed of winning four

As Sebastian Vettel stand on the cusp of securing a fourth successive Drivers' crown, Christian Horner admits he "never thought" it would happen.

Vettel came from behind to win his first Drivers' Championship title in 2010 and has dominated the sport ever since.

This season a run of four consecutive race victories has seen the German gain a 77-point advantage over Fernando Alonso in the battle for the title.

As a result Vettel could wrap up the title - his fourth successive - this weekend in Japan, all he needs to do is win the race and have Alonso finish ninth or lower.

"If we are to achieve it, then it would be massive," said Horner.

"To win it the first time was special, to defend it was remarkable and we never thought we could surpass the triple.

"If we get a fourth, then it would be something which the whole team would be blown away by. It would be phenomenal."

The Red Bull team boss, though, is not that detract from the work that the team still needs to do.

"We have not allowed our thoughts to drift, we are not thinking about the Championship. We have stayed in the moment and focused.

"If the moon and stars align and he wins the race and Fernando is ninth or below, then theoretically he can win the Championship.

"So long as we win it, I don't care where we win it, but the chances of us winning it in Suzuka are low. When does Fernando Alonso ever not finish a race?"
