Vettel unhappy with engine sounds

Sebastian Vettel has slated the new quieter Formula One, saying it is a "shame" that fans are losing out.

Last time out in Australia, Formula One fans had their first opportunity to hear the new 1.6-litre turbocharged V6 engines and not many were happy.

Taking to social networking sites to voice their displeasure, the sound of the engines was equated to anything from a vacuum cleaner to a hair drier.

And while many in F1 has urged people to give it time, Vettel has just slated it.

"It's s**t," said the Red Bull driver.

"I was on the pitwall during the race, and it is better [quieter] than in a bar! I think for the fans it is not good.

"F1 has to be spectacular and the sound is one of the most important things.

"I remember when I was a small child, and I don't remember much, being six years old when we went to watch practice at the German GP and the thing I recall is how loud the cars were and the feeling of the ground vibrating.

"It's a shame we don't have that anymore."
