Horner: Team-mate wars expected

Christian Horner admits he is "relieved" that this season it is Mercedes who are having to pick their way through team-mate troubles.

Although in recent seasons it was the rivalry between Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber that made headlines, this year it's the feud at Mercedes that has everyone talking.

The tension between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg came to a head in Monaco last Saturday when suspicious were raised by the manner in which Rosberg claimed pole position.

24 hours later the duo barely acknowledged one another on the podium and their team bosses have spent the week trying to play down talk of a feud.

Horner, though, says it is all part of Formula 1.

"[It's] the nature of sport that when you have competitive sportsmen competing against each other the word team-mate is sometimes a bit of a fallacy," the Red Bull team boss told Autosport.

"It is inevitable that as sportsmen you will want to push, and this is when drivers get conflicted between what is right for the team and what is right for themselves.

"For sure it causes issues within the team but it depends how they manage that.

"It is part of sport; I am just relieved it is not us for a change."
