Paul di Resta was disappointed after failing to make it out of Q1 in Singapore on Saturday night.
The Force India was well inside the top 16 as the chequered flag dropped at the end of Q1. However, as other drivers improved their times he found himself in the dropzone.
The Scot was unable to improve on his 1:46.121 and found himself down in 17th place.
"It's not up to scratch," said the Force India driver.
"We are more optimised for the race and our degradation levels are far better than other cars, but whether we can get points I don't know.
"We've given ourselves some work to do but hopefully the pit-wall can give me a good strategy tomorrow."
