Button lost his grip in Hungary

Jenson Button was left disappointed after his struggle for grip in qualifying left him down in 11th place on the Hungarian GP grid.

The McLaren driver headed to Budapest on Thursday admitting he needed a good qualifying performance if he hoped to claw back a few points from his team-mate Lewis Hamilton in Sunday's race.

However, it was not be.

The 30-year-old missed out on a place in the top ten qualifying shoot-out by 0.017secs and will line up 11th on the grid come Sunday afternoon.

"In practice the car was working really well, but in qualifying I just couldn't find a balance," said the reigning World Champ.

"We changed the car a little bit, but it didn't help a lot. The weather changed a bit (from final practice).

"I was happy with the car this morning, but this afternoon there was just no grip. It wasn't a great session and I'm not really happy."

The Brit, though, is still determined to work his way into a solid points-scoring position, having already shown this season that he can come back from poor qualifying displays.

"I'm on the clean side (of the grid) at least, and I've got two new sets of tyres for the race as well. Hopefully we can fight from there.

"We can still pick up good points."
