Perez hits out at McLaren

Wednesday 13-November-2013 13:12

Amidst rumours that he is about to be replaced by Kevin Magnussen, Sergio Perez has hit out at McLaren, claiming that the team lacked the organisation and humility to contend with the reality that they weren't title contenders in 2014...

"I'm very disappointed [with the way this year has gone]," PĂ©rez is quoted by totalrace.com.

"I believe that when your goals are much higher than the results, you get disappointed - and that goes for both parties.

"McLaren is a great team, I have no doubt about that and it has a lot of very capable people. But this year I think it lacked organisation and a little humility to face reality.

"During the year, being a great team, McLaren took a long time to see the reality in which we were in and that if we scored points it was a good weekend. The team took a long time to realise it.

"I think Martin [Whitmarsh] is a great team principal. I have nothing [bad] to say about him. He is a great leader and led the team in a good way. But a team doesn't just depend on a good team principal it depends on many things that were not good enough and this was especially so this year."

Earlier, Perez admitted that his weekend's race in Austin is his "most important" of the season and that he has several options ahead of the 2014 season.

"I'm trying to find the best possible option [to continue in F1]," the Mexican added.

"I have to see what the best option for the future is."
