Ricciardo not bothered by speculation

Daniel Ricciardo has vowed to keep his feet firmly on the ground admit rumours that he is in the driving seat to replace Mark Webber at Red Bull next year.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has confirmed that Ricciardo, his Toro Rosso team-mate Jean-Eric Vergne as well as Kimi Raikkonen from Lotus are in the running to become Sebastian Vettel's team-mate in 2014.

Webber himself believes his Australian compatriot is "in the box seat" and Ricciardo certainly proved at Silverstone that he is up for the challenge as he qualified P5 and then finished eighth on the Sunday.

Despite the talk, the Toro Rosso driver is keeping a level head.

"Obviously talk about next year is pretty frequent," said Ricciardo. "For me, I just keep doing what I am doing and keep pushing.

"It's nice to hear some positive things and it is a great position to be in, but I have some work ahead of me.

"It didn't hinder anything [at Silverstone] and I have to keep doing that.

"I haven't won a race yet so I have some further goals and ambitions, so I'll keep striving for better things."

The four points that Ricciardo scored at Silverstone helped him to take his tally for the season to 11 and he admits he is feeling good about his form at the moment.

"I just want to do the best I can," he added.

"Qualifying last Saturday was good, the race could easily have been better, but I still had points and showed consistent pace throughout.

"There were definitely some positive things from that, and I'm happy to keep it going now."
