Antonio Felix da Costa has been confirmed as a candidate for a Toro Rosso seat in 2014 if Daniel Ricciardo makes the step up to Red Bull.
The Faenza squad could be forced to find a new team-mate for Jean-Eric Vergne next year if Red Bull decide to hand the seat vacated by Mark Webber to Ricciardo.
The Red Bull-owned team have always promoted drivers from their Junior Team and Da Costa is next in line, according to team principal Franz Tost.
"Antonio Felix da Costa is one of the candidates, but let's wait for the decision of Red Bull and, if they take Daniel, we assess who will be the choice for our second cockpit," Tost told Brazil's totalrace.com.
The 21-year-old from Portugal tested for Red Bull and Toro Rosso at the Young Driver Test at Silverstone in July and he admitted he had his eyes on a seat for 2014.
"Yeah, I don't hide the fact that the goal is to be in F1 next year," he said.
