Raikkonen: Nothing has changed

Kimi Raikkonen has told Lotus they need "sort out" their issues before he's willing to enter contract negotiations.

Having been linked to Mark Webber's Red Bull seat for the past two months, Raikkonen learnt for definite on Monday that he was out of the running when the team confirmed Daniel Ricciardo.

The 2007 World Champ, though, says he wasn't surprised by the announcement.

"We made it clear before the last race what was going to happen, so it (their decision) wasn't really a surprise in the end," he said.

"I don't think anything went wrong. Probably they wanted a different thing. You go and ask them, I don't know.

"For me it doesn't really matter. It is fine and it is not the first time. Sometimes you speak with people and it doesn't work out.

"From my side nothing has changed since the last race. We will see, there is still a long way to go this year before we have to decide."

The Finn still has options as current team Lotus are keen to retain his services while Ferrari are also reportedly interested in signing him.

For now, though, he's not even talking to his current employers, at least not until certain financial and technical conditions have been met.

"They know the reasons why there is no going forward right now," said the Finn.

"Until they sort out those issues we cannot talk about next year. It is as simple as that. They know exactly the reasons."

As for the rumours that he could be returning to Ferrari, Raikkonen neither confirmed nor denied them other than to say all is well between himself and the Italian outfit.

"I never had anything against anybody," Raikkonen said of his previous dealings with Ferrari.

"Obviously certain things could have been different in the past in many areas, not just at Ferrari, but for many teams."
