Marco Sorensen could get his big break in Formula One in 2014 as he is reportedly on the verge of being appointed Lotus test and reserve driver.
Davide Valsecchi has held the role for the 2013 season, but Italiaracing reports the 26-year-old will be replaced by Sorensen for the new campaign.
The 23-year-old Dane is part of Lotus' Junior Team while he has competed in the Formula Renault 3.5 the past two seasons, finishing sixth in 2012 and seventh last year.
Sorensen's Formula One experience is very limited though as a test in a two-year-old Lotus at Paul Ricard in September counts as his only outing in a F1 car.
Valsecchi appears to be on the way out from the Enstone squad after he reacted angrily to the team's decision to replace the injured Kimi Raikkonen with fellow Finn Heikki Kovalainen at the USA and Brazilian Grands Prix.
