Vettel hails Red Bull's efforts

Back on pole in Bahrain, Sebastian Vettel was full of praise for his Red Bull team for bouncing back from a trying start to the campaign.

Vettel dominated Saturday afternoons last season, however, it appeared as if the pendulum had swung away from the German and his Red Bull team when they failed to bag pole or even a front row grid slot in the first three races of the Championship.

But the 'finger' was back in Bahrain as Vettel stormed to a 1:32.422, which put him a mere 0.098s up on Lewis Hamilton.

And Vettel reckons all the glory belongs to Red Bull team.

"Obviously it feels great and this one I will give to the team and the guys," he said.

"It wasn't an easy start to the season for us - surely a lot of expectations but more than anything it was what we expect from ourselves. It did not match our expectation.

"We worked hard on the car, trimming here and there to find the right way forward. The boys did not have much sleep the last few races - a tough race in China and here a serious lack of sleep, so I'm happy to be on pole.

"Both of us owe the result to the team. The car felt better all weekend. I did not have the best early part of qualifying in Q1 and Q2, but knew when I got lap in we could nail it - so I am very happy."

Qualifying, though, is only part of the weekend's work with Vettel saying Red Bull are in for a "tough" time on Sunday although he reckons this season's races have demonstrated that Red Bull have good race pace.

"This is always a tough race and a lot of things can happen. We are pretty aggressive. We should be better off in the race. Our race pace has proven to be consistent in the last couple of races.

"I'm happier with way car feels. We should be able to get the same kind of feeling and result on Sunday. I'm looking forward to the start and then I think it will be very tight.

"I think Nico (Rosberg) has been very strong all weekend and the Lotus guys can surprise. In terms of race pace, I think everyone will be much closer together."
