Rosberg expects better in the race

Nico Rosberg reckons he'll be back on the pace come Sunday's Chinese GP after falling behind in qualifying.

Rosberg was the one to beat in Friday's first practice when the drivers ran the medium compound Pirellis. However, the switch later in the day to the soft tyres saw the German drop back.

It was more of the same in final practice on Saturday morning, although this time Rosberg's efforts were also hampered by a hydraulic problem that cut short his session.

As such when it became apparent that the soft compound was the route to go in qualifying, Rosberg was not able to maintain the pace.

He qualified fourth but believes he can improve on that come Sunday's 56-lap grand prix.

"I'm generally quite pleased with qualifying," he said.

"I was playing a little bit of catch up because of the hydraulic problem in practice. I was still finding my way.

"In the end, it was a decent lap until the last corner where I messed up a bit. I didn't get it quite right.

"But we have have a good race car, especially for tomorrow."
