Pastor Maldonado suffered a fluctuation in fortune in Monaco as F1's newest race winner will start at the back of the grid.
Qualifying in ninth place, the Williams driver dropped to P19 when he was hit with a ten-place penalty for an incident with Sergio Perez in FP3.
His woes, though, were not over as, given the damage to his car in his post-Perez crash, his team have opted to change his gearbox ahead of Sunday's Monte Carlo race.
Chief operations engineer Mark Gillan said: "The car had a lot of damage in it, to the point where we are having to change the gearbox in it as well.
"There was a significant amount of damage to the car, so the guys did a really good job to even get it out for qualifying."
The Spanish GP winner will therefore start the Monaco race in P24.
