Jenson Button has played down fears that McLaren will slip down the Formula One pecking order after failing to claim a single podium finish in 2013.
The former World Champion has also allayed fears that the Woking outfit will struggle like Williams have in the last decade following their hey-day in the 1990s.
"There is a good atmosphere and a belief in the team," the 2009 Drivers' Championship winner told the Telegraph.
"We have the resources that Williams don't. Money is king in a sport like Formula One. The same in football in a way."
Following their disappointing season, Button will be partnered by McLaren test driver Kevin Magnussen in 2014 after Sergio Perez was informed earlier this month that his contract won't be extended past 2013.
