Raikkonen: Wasn't an easy day

Sunday 02-March-2014 05:24

Kimi Raikkonen admits he had hoped for better on his final day of testing after an electrical problem curtailed his running.

The Ferrari driver was in action on the penultimate day in Bahrain where he managed 87 laps with a best time of 1:35.426.

The day, though, was not without problems as an issue relating to a connector forced the mechanics to partially dismantle the car to find the cause.

Back on track, Raikkonen conducted both short runs and a race simulation.

The Finn, though, admits he would have been happier with more track time.

"I'd hoped to do more laps, but this wasn't an easy day," Raikkonen told

"We lost some time this morning when we had to fix something on the car, but then we managed to make up for some of it in the afternoon.

"Running a race distance, we continued to get more data relating to fuel consumption strategies and tyre degradation, even though the strong wind upset the driving a lot.

"I'd like to be able to say we did better, but there's still one more day with Fernando to continue our preparation for Melbourne."

Raikkonen hands the car over to Fernando Alonso for the final day of testing on Sunday.
