Webber relishing change of fortune

Mark Webber is hoping to beat Sebastian Vettel at least once before his final season in Formula One concludes in Brazil.

The Red Bull racer was relishing a change of fortune in Italy on Sunday as for the first time in 11 visits to Monza he finally reached the podium.

Webber brought his car home in third place, less than a second behind Fernando Alonso after a thrilling battle with the Ferrari driver.

However, once again it was his team-mate Sebastian Vettel who took the race victory, extending his race tally for this season to 11 - 1 against Webber. The only time Webber finished ahead of Vettel was when the German retired from the lead in Britain.

"It's great place and to get on the podium was good," said the Aussie, who is calling it quits on his F1 career at the end of this season. "This is not a circuit I have had the best luck at.

"Fernando and I had a good battle and I settled in after that and I was just thinking how would I get Felipe around the stop and I cleared him relatively easily and it gave me a chance with Alonso.

"In the end it was a great weekend for us.

"Obviously Seb had a seamless weekend, he has had bit of a love affair with this track but hopefully I can take something off him before the end of the season."
