Luca di Montezemolo has urged fans to send Michael Schumacher their "affection and support" as he continues to wake up from his coma.
The seven-time World Champion, who won five of his Drivers' titles with Ferrari, remains in the Grenoble Hospital in France in a medically induced coma.
Schumacher was placed in the coma after suffering severe brain trauma in a skiing accident in Meribel back in December.
The German's doctors are still reportedly going through the wake-up process, however, of late there has been no official update on his conditions.
Speaking at the Geneva Motor Show, di Montezemolo told PA Sport: "Michael was, and still is, a very important person in my life.
"From 1996 onwards (when Schumacher joined Ferrari) so many things happened in the lives of both of us and, in the difficult times, Michael was always incredibly close to the team.
"What's happened to him was a real shock to me, after all the events we shared, and a great affection still remains.
"Michael, at the moment, needs that affection and support from everyone."
