Williams hope to challenge for points

Rubens Barrichello hopes Williams' new aero package will give them a better chance to fight for a top 10 finish at the Belgian Grand Prix.

The Grove-based outfit have had a trying season and have fallen well off the pace of midfield teams like Sauber, Force India and Toro Rosso. They are currently ninth in the Constructors' Championship with Barrichello's ninth-place finishes at the Monaco and Canada Grands Prix their only points.

Barrichello, though, is optimistic that they will be able to challenge for points at Spa this weekend after a raft of updates to the FW33.

"We are going to have a new aero package for this race that I hope will give us a better chance to fight for points," he said. "It is a real drivers' circuit with no time to breathe during a lap."

Technical director Sam Michael added that engineers always have plenty of food for thought before the Belgian GP due to the nature of the track.

"Spa is one of the greatest circuits in the Formula One Championship. Large variations in terrain provide a challenge to the engineers to cover all of the different corner types, from slow speed curb riding to the flat out Eau Rouge.

"Race day can be really interesting when the weather changes as it can rain on one side of the circuit and be dry on the other! We will bring new rear wings which feature a different drag level and some diffuser modifications to evaluate during practice."
