Hispania suffer pre-season testing blow

Hispania Racing's troubled pre-season ahead of the new F1 campaign has taken a turn for the worse as the team have been forced to pull out of the final day of testing on Saturday.

On Friday the Spanish outfit finally unveiled their new car, the F111, at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya, but were unable to run due to customs issues.

Hispania team principal Colin Kolles had at least hoped to get the car on track on Saturday. However, customs are refusing to release certain parts of the car.

Kolles said: "Unfortunately we could not get the dampers out of customs.

"The result of this is we can't run. This is life and we will overcome this problem."

It means the first outing for Hispania's new car will now be in first practice at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix in a fortnight's time.

Hispania's withdrawal from testing leaves just four teams to bring the curtain down on pre-season in McLaren, Ferrari, Mercedes and Williams.
