No penalties for Glock or Coulthard

Monday 28th April 2008

The Barcelona race stewards opted not to penalise Timo Glock or David Coulthard for their coming together on Lap 55 of the Spanish GP.

The two drivers collided with one another 11 laps prior to the end of the race when Glock tried to pass Coulthard down the inside of Turn Five.

However, DC closed the door on the Toyota driver with the contact breaking Glock's front wing and puncturing one of Coulthard's tyres.

Both drivers were force to pit for repairs and eventually finished the race 11th and 12th with Glock ahead of Coulthard.

The incident was investigated by the Barcelona race stewards, who ruled that it was a racing incident and that no action was necessary.

Coulthard, however, reckons the accident was entirely Glock's fault: "I took a defensive line into Turn four and five to show Glock that I knew he was there, but he hit the rear of my car and punctured a tyre."

On the other hand Glock believes Coulthard was at fault: "Coulthard came out in front of me and he was slow on his out lap. He left me a bit of space and then closed it and I crashed into him. It destroyed my front wing again and that was it."
