Schumi and co support Smedley charity

Some of the world's top Formula One stars have thrown their weight behind a charity event that is raising money for the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society

Felipe Massa's race engineer Rob Smedley and his wife Lucy are hosting the event after they tragically lost their daughter Minnie in June last year.

The couple will host a charity evening Middlesbrough on May 30 and several of F1's top stars have decided to get involved.

Seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher has donated racing overalls for an auction while Smedley has provided the overalls he wore on the podium during last year's Chinese Grand Prix.

Honda Racing have donated a signed shirt from Jenson Button and a signed helmut from Rubens Barrichello.

Massa's overalls, passes for a Formula One Test, the use of an executive box at Old Trafford for next season's Manchester United versus Middlesbrough game and a skiiing holiday are also up for grabs.

"The support we have received so far has been amazing and Rob and I find it so heart-warming that people have come out of the woodwork to support our event," Lucy Smedly said.

"We are so comforted by the fact that Minnie touched so many people's hearts."
