'Ferrari and Renault chasing Kubica'Monday 5th May 2008Robert Kubica's impressive start to 2008 has caught the eye of rival teams with both Ferrari and Renault reportedly interested in signing the Polish driver.
So far this season the BMW driver has two podium finishes and one pole position to his name while the 19 points he has scored have put him third in the Championship ahead of team-mate Nick Heidfeld.
He has also outqualified the more experienced German in each of the four grands prix and yet earns less than Heidfeld with Bild reporting that he bags only a quarter of the 10 million that the German brings home.
And with his BMW deal expiring at the end of next season, the German publication claims Kubica's future could lie elsewhere.
It reports that both Renault boss Flavio Briatore and Ferrari have begun making inquiries into Kubica's future with an eye to signing him for the 2010 season.
One man who fully understands the desire to sign the BMW driver is F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone.
"He gets better from race to race. If I was a team boss I would snap him up straight away," he said. ©2006 - 365 Media Group Any reproduction, publication or redistribution of this material without the written agreement of 365 Media Group is strictly forbidden. |
