Prac Two: Kovalainen charges ahead in BritainFriday 4th July 2008Heikki Kovalainen was by far the quickest man in Practice Two at Silverstone as the Mclaren driver outpaced Mark Webber by over half a second.
With the track temperature 10 degrees hotter than it was in the morning, McLaren made the most of the conditions with Kovalainen clocking a 1:19.989 to finish P1.
It was an impressive lap from the Finn made more so by the fact that second placed Webber was over half a second slower, coming home with a 1:20.
Lewis Hamilton finished in third place ahead of David Coulthard. Both British drivers are looking for a strong result this weekend on home soil.
Nico Rosberg placed his Williams in the top five, ahead of Sebastian Vettel and F1's third British driver, Jenson Button.
Felipe Massa was the best-placed Ferrari driver coming home in eighth place. However, the Brazilian's running was limited as the team spent the better part of the session fixing his car which had been damaged earlier in the morning.
Meanwhile Jarno Trulli was Practice Two's big crasher. The Italian lost control of his Toyota TF108 when his rear wing fell off in the arrival to Stowe corner.
The result was that Trulli was nothing but a mere passager in his car as it went hurtling backwards into the tyre barrier, causing damage to the rear of the car. Trulli, however, climbed unaided from his car, with only the yellow flags coming out.
And soon as they were put away they were again needed as Kazuki Nakajima slid into the wall approaching Bridge after spinning on the exit of Abbey. The Williams driver limped back to the pits, leaving debris in his wake.
