FIA to conduct engine tests

Friday 25th July 2008

Mercedes' engines will reportedly be the first batch to be examined by the FIA as part of its annual random checks on all F1 engines.

Under F1 regulations there is an engine freeze which bans manufacturers from making any technical changes to their power units.

And in order to police the ban the FIA are set to begin annual routine checks on all manufacturers's engines, starting with Mercedes Benz.

According to Autosport this year's checks are taking place later than expected due to the FIA introducing better testing apparatus to ensure that the engine specifications haven't been changed.
