Nico: Williams heading in the right direction

Friday 29th August 2008

After returning to the points in the European GP, Nico Rosberg is confident that Williams are "heading in the right direction."

Williams' 2008 campaign got off to a solid start with both Rosberg and team-mate Kazuki Nakajima bagging three points-finishes apiece in the first six races including Rosberg's podium result at the season-opening Australian GP.

The mid-season, though, saw the team's performances take a dip as both drivers struggled in qualifying, putting them on the backfoot for Sundays' grand prix.

However, Rosberg returned to the top ten in qualifying for the European GP, resulting in a points-finish and a confident assessment that Williams are heading in the right direction as the team's prepare for next weekend's Belgian GP.

"The important thing for the team at the moment is that we've identified where improvements can be made with the FW30 and are making the necessary adjustments to take us into the final few races," said Rosberg.

"The work everyone at the factory is putting in should help us out in Spa. We're not going to make a huge jump, but we'll definitely be heading in the right direction."

The Williams driver is a fan of the Spa-Francorchamps, which has in the past yielded points for himself and his team.

"We had a great race at Spa last year. I finished sixth, which was one of my best results of the season," he said.

"I'm really looking forward to the Belgian Grand Prix because Spa is an amazing race track. It will be difficult to score points there, but you can never predict what will happen somewhere like Spa, so we'll have to wait and see."
