Bourdais rubbishes axing rumours

Thursday 9th July 2009

Sebastian Bourdais has rubbished rumours that his time at Toro Rosso is set to come to an end after this weekend's German GP.

According to reports in the French media, Toro Rosso have opted to replace Bourdais after the Frenchman was outdone by his rookie team-mate Seb Buemi in the first half of this year's campaign.

Bourdais, though, says this is rubbish.

"This rumour has been around since the middle of last season," the 30-year-old told Autosport.

"What can I say? I haven't received any notice from the team that this is my last race so as far as I am concerned it is still a rumour.

"I've got a job to do and that's what I've got to concentrate on. I can't control what people say or where it is coming from.

"It's very unfortunate but there's nothing we can do about it. Someone puts it out and now it is all over the place."

"well, I really like this guy. But 1 1/2 seasons is a long time for an experienced driver like him. I don't think he has it in him to do well in F1.

"Go back to the US Seb.. that type of racing suits u better.""

"How is this guy supposed to perform while during his complete F1 career the rumor is that he will be axed.

I know it's old news but he was very competitive to Vettel in the STR2. As he stated himself, the STR3 (and i guess the STR4 to some extend too) didn't suit his driving style.

STR's team boss isn't really a nice man. This guys really likes to blame the drivers (Liuzzi & Speed anyone?).

As already stated a couple times, the sooner Bourdais leaves STR, the better for his career."

"The "Axeee" is always the last to know, lets hear from the "Axer" before this is news."

"I like this guy and what he brings to F1 on and off track !"
