Massa talks of his Turkish love affair

Thursday 15th May 2008

Felipe Massa reckons there must be "something special" between himself and the Istanbul circuit after clinching his third successive Turkish GP win on Sunday.

The Brazilian, who won back-to-back victories at the track in 2006 and 2007 after starting both races from pole position, once again started from the coveted grid slot last weekend.

He was able to use his starting position to take the early lead from Lewis Hamilton and although he briefly lost it to the McLaren driver, a three-stop strategy from Hamilton allowed Massa to return to the front.

The Ferrari driver held to make it a hattrick of Turkish wins and put him firmly in the hunt for this year's World title. He trails team-mate Kimi Raikkonen by seven points after five races.

"A Turkish hattrick! That was a weekend to remember for a very long time. When you win three times in a row, it says something is special between you and a circuit," Massa said.

"I always feel very comfortable and very strong at this circuit and it is a track where I can be one of the quickest all the time, but I have also won twice in Bahrain, I won in Barcelona and Brazil and I want to win at other tracks as well.

"For sure, I had a great car last weekend and I think the team did a great job and so did I. It's a very special place to be and to keep winning at."
