Grid penalty for Nakajima in Malaysia

Sunday 16th March 2008

Kazuki Nakajima has been given a 10-place penalty for next weekend's Malaysia GP after he was involved in not one but two accidents in Melbourne.

While Nakajima cannot be blamed for the first accident, which took place on Lap 1 and saw four cars retire, the Williams rookie was held responsible for his shunt with Robert Kubica nine laps from the end of the race.

Following the second Safety Car of the race, the drivers were closely bunched up and coming into the final turn before the straight whenNakajima drove into the back of Kubica.

The impact forced the Japanese driver to get his second front wing of the day and put Kubica out of the race.

The crash also earned Nakajima a 10-place penalty on the starting grid for the Malaysian GP next weekend.
