Kubica: BMW are lacking over long stints

Robert Kubica has conceded that BMW are not yet in the same league as Ferrari and McLaren after losing to his rivals in Europe.

Ferrari's Felipe Massa claimed the victory in Valencia on Sunday with Lewis Hamilton finishing in second place while Kubica completed the podium.

It was the Polish driver's first top three finish since his Canadian GP victory back in June.

Asked whether more podium finishes can be expected of BMW in he remaining six races, Kubica said: "I will try. I'm trying my best.

"In the last race I also started on the second row but I finished much further behind.

"I'm giving my maximum and I'm trying my best.

"I believe everyone is trying their best but we have to be realistic and I think the true pace of our car is more similar to Sunday's pace than in qualifying.

"We struggled a bit more than Ferrari and McLaren on the long stints.

"Most probably with new tyres I managed to pull something more, the car is behaving better but as soon as the tyres get a bit used, then the car starts sliding too much and you cannot do anything."
