No Bono as Lewis Hamilton heads towards a sixth title

Lewis Hamilton will have to try to win the World title without Peter ‘Bono’ Bonnington at his side as the Brit will miss the Mexican and US rounds of the championship.

Bonnington has been Hamilton’s race engineer in all four of his title-winning seasons with Mercedes.

And while he has guided Hamilton for most of this championship, which would be Hamilton’s fifth with the Brackley squad, the Brit will have to cross the line alone – that’s if he wraps it up in Mexico or Austin.

Bonnington is having to miss two rounds of the championship due to a “medical procedure” that is keeping him in the United Kingdom for the next few weeks.

According to AFP, Dom Riefstahl, a member of Mercedes’ race support team, will substitute for Bono in both the Mexican and US rounds.

Bono is expected to be return in time for the Brazil GP.
