Alfa Romeo officially launch appeal against German GP penalties.

Jan Monchaux has been appointed as the new technical director of Alfa Romeo’s Formula 1 team, replacing Simone Resta.

Monchaux, the current head of aerodynamics, will take up the new role on 1 August with Resta departing to join Ferrari.

Monchaux joined the team in early 2018 when it was know as Sauber.

As quoted by Motorsport Week, Mochaux said: “I am very excited about this new challenge and I am looking forward to starting in my new position.”

“The owners, board and team principal are sending a simple but strong message to the whole company – they value continuity and believe in the existing team and the work we have been doing.

“It is now up to us to prove them right, but I am convinced our future is bright.”

Alfa Romeo currently sit P6 in the Constructors’ Championship and principal Frederic Vasseur is looking forward to continuing his work with Monchaux in his new position.

“I am delighted to have him step up to the role of Technical Director,” explained Vasseur.

“He has done a brilliant job so far and I am confident he will be able to lead our technical group as the team continues its upward journey.”
