Alfa Romeo revise front wing after Baku woes

Alfa Romeo have tweaked their front wing following Kimi Raikkonen’s exclusion from qualifying for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Raikkonen was thrown out of qualifying after his front wing failed a deflection test.

As such the Finn was forced to start the Baku race from the pit lane.

This weekend in Spain, though, Alfa Romeo are running a revised front wing with team boss Frederic Vasseur revealed they have made changes to prevent another exclusion.

“Just to clarify, that I think first we were out of the spec, we did a mistake,” he said.

“Perhaps you could consider that the decision was a bit harsh, but it’s like this.

“We have to clean in front of our door first.

“The mistake was on our side and for sure we are not coming to Barcelona with the same wing.”

The team boss explained what exactly Alfa Romeo had changed to avoid deflection issues.

“We changed the hook and the fixation,” he said.
