AlphaTauri ‘ready for Austria’ after Imola run
AlphaTauri shook down its 2020 Formula 1 cars at Imola on Wednesday, the latest team to cover a filming day ahead of Austria.
Pierre Gasly and Daniil Kvyat were both in action at the Italian circuit.
AlphaTauri’s day began with time out on track in a 2018-spec STR13 car, giving the drivers the opportunity for unrestricted miles.
In the afternoon the team switched to this year’s AT01 with the team’s running limited to 100kms.
Under F1 rules, teams may conduct two filming days per year but they have to keep it to 100km or less.
“I was really happy to be back on track after such a long wait,” said Gasly.
“I had really missed that feeling you get from driving so it was incredible to be back in the STR13 and the AT01.
“We had a really smooth day, doing some laps in both cars.”
“I woke up this morning feeling excited and happy and I will fall asleep tonight in the same mood.
“It was also special to drive a Formula 1 car at Imola, which is one of my favourite tracks. I think we are now ready for Austria.”

His team-mate Kvyat was also happy with his day’s work, enjoying his time at the Imola circuit.
Imola is one of three Italian tracks that could yet feature on this year’s calendar, the circuit pushing for a “legendary national triple”.
Kvyat hopes Formula 1 gives it the go-ahead.
“Imola is a special track and I am very happy to get back in a F1 car, after this long pause, on this circuit,” said the Russian.
“I’ve known it for some time, because I did one of my first tests here with a single-seater in 2010.
“The track is really fantastic to drive, with some nice fast corners.
“I am of the opinion that it should absolutely be on the F1 calendar.”
