Angela Cullen was all smiles as she took to the skies following her recent split from Lewis Hamilton’s inner circle as his performance coach.
In the build-up to the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, it was announced that Hamilton had parted ways with his right-hand woman after seven years of working together.
Cullen was often seen at Hamilton’s side throughout Grand Prix weekends, but those days are now over as the duo go their separate ways.
Both Hamilton and Cullen were full of praise for each other in their parting statements once the news was confirmed, but that still didn’t stop speculation of a rift developing between the two.
Hamilton swiftly put a stop to that rumour gaining any more momentum.
“Me and Ange are good,” the seven-time World Champion said as per the Daily Mail.
“She’s moving on to a different phase in her life. We’re still super-close and we have been texting every day.
“She’s massively supportive and I’m massively supportive of her.
“I’m so grateful to have had her with me on this journey. She’s one of my closest friends and she continues to be.”
What that different phase looks like for Cullen remains to be seen completely but, if there is one way to begin a new chapter, then paragliding is a great way to get started!
She wrote on Instagram: “It’s always been a dream of mine to fly. When I was young I wanted to be a fighter pilot, in fact, I still want to fly an F16.
“But today I went solo with my paraglider (maybe not the F16 ), but it was an amazing experience, so peaceful – chasing dreams!”
Even though Cullen is not physically by Hamilton’s side anymore, she will be in spirit.
During her parting words she said she would be ‘forever’ by Hamilton’s side and spent the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix weekend shouting at her TV and cheering the seven-time World Champion on.
“Exactly seven years ago on this day I was standing in the F1 paddock for the first time at the Australian GP,” she wrote on Instagram. “Today I’m excited to share I’m off on my next adventure.
“I am so grateful and blessed to have had this incredible journey in F1 and I know my story will continue.
“Thanks to the MB team, who have been my family for the past 7 years.
“And Lewis Hamilton you GOAT!! It’s been such an honour and pleasure to stand along side you I’m so proud of you and everything you have achieved.
“Thank you for supporting me, believing in me and showing me the limitless potential we all have within us.
“I am so excited to watch the next chapter for you. There’s nothing you can’t do. Don’t stop believing…
“Life’s journey is one big wave, keep riding, Dream big as dreams do come true.
“Forever by your side, STILL WE RISE.”
