Another honest assessment from ‘struggling’ Leclerc

Charles Leclerc has admitted he needs to improve his driving on race days, following another disappointing Sunday for the Monegasque.

The Ferrari driver yet again struggled with his tyres and lost out on a podium spot when he was overtaken by his team-mate Vettel with three laps to go.

“Yeah, it’s life. I need to learn from it for sure, there’s much to learn”, Leclerc said back in the Hungaroring paddock.

“I’ve been struggling towards the end of the race with the rears, and also at the end of the first stint.

“That’s a few races now where I seem quite strong in qualifying but in the race, I seem to struggle with the rear tyres, so I need to find if there’s a bit of a compromise to find there.

“Also with my driving – maybe to improve a little bit to keep the tyres more towards the end of the race.”

Both Ferrari drivers were unable to compete with Red Bull and Mercedes all weekend, finishing over a minute behind race winner Lewis Hamilton.

“We are struggling at the moment”, Leclerc added.

“We knew we’d struggle at this race, but we probably did a bit than we expected, so we need to work, and hopefully we’ll find something for the second half of the season.”
