Albers: Red Bull are ‘super disorganised’

Former F1 driver Christijan Albers has criticised Red Bull, saying the team are “super disorganised” and lack professionalism. 

The team have enjoyed a huge amount of success since joining the world of Formula 1 in 2005.

From 2010 to 2013, they were the sport’s dominant force, winning both World Championships in each of the four seasons, and they have continued to regularly win races and pick up podiums since then.

However, they have not got their hands on a title since the start of the hybrid era, failing to come close to getting the better of Mercedes.

In the eyes of Albers, they are not organised enough to do so.

“Everything in that team has to be cool, eccentric and flashy,” he said on De Telegraaf podcast.

“But when you look at them from a distance, they are super disorganised.

“Nothing to the detriment of Max Verstappen, but other teams have a lot more professionalism in terms of communication.”

Albers also doubts the engine freeze will be as beneficial for Helmut Marko and co as they expect it to be.

They pushed hard for all development on engines to be halted from 2022 to 2025 to be pushed through soon after Honda announced their intention to leave the sport, even threatening to walk away from the grid themselves if their competitors did not approve such a measure.

Ultimately, the team got their way, with it unanimously given the green light.

The Dutchman, though, thinks it may not work out too well for them as Honda could leave them with a poor engine at the end of the 2021 campaign to go into the freeze with.

“Red Bull probably thinks the freeze is great,” he said.

“Only when it turns out that the Honda engine is bad do they cry again.

“What if Honda does not have a good engine for next year? Then Red Bull has a serious problem because they cannot further develop the engine until 2025.”

Red Bull will be feeling confident they will not face such a problem, with Honda recently stating the fact it is their last year in F1 motivated them to introduce more upgrades than originally planned.
